Nursery: Red & Shiny Things

In the lead up to Christmas, this week we will be focusing on the festive themed colours of red and shiny things! The first activity we did combine both by mark making with red paint onto shiny tinfoil:

Then we shared red show-and-tell items from home and did a red mystery bag (putting our hands into the bag and pulling out something red!):

We role played making some tasty food for each other and the dolls, and got some good finger muscle exercise by mixing shiny glitter into red pongo:

In our heuristic play session the children were presented with a tray full of red and shiny objects to explore. They enjoyed feeing the cold chains and hearing the sounds they made when put in metal pans, rubbing soft pom poms on their faces, and looking into the mirrors!:

And in cooking we made tomato, ham and cheese sandwiches!:

Next we tried finger painting with stamps:

And played in a red and shiny themed water tray, experimenting with different containers and pouring water:

We also celebrated Gabriele’s birthday this week, with presents, cake and decorations!:

Next week we will start the topic of CHRISTMAS!
