Following on from the topic of ‘Autumn’, this week nursery has been focusing on the autumnal colours of brown and orange. We began with a fine motor skills craft using pegs and pom poms to stamp brown owls, and then glued on eyes, beaks and sticks:
In heuristic play the class explored brown wooden loose parts and baskets. They practised making towers and lines, counting, and filling and emptying baskets:
Next we had a go at making orange juice, smelling the oranges, squeezing, pushing, twisting and drinking!:
The next day we used the leftover oranges to do some stamping, as a great finger strengthening activity:
Friday was Wellbeing Day at Acorn House, so the children took part in a calming sensory tray. There were fairy lights, coloured scarfs and gentle maracas, with dim lights and nature sounds in the background. This set us up for a nice tranquil day!
And in the afternoon we joined in with a relaxing meditation session with Preschool:
Next week’s topic is… SHAPES!
