Before the break Preschool Yellow had a busy time learning about cars, buses, trains, planes and all things to do with TRANSPORTATION!
We took some “Things that Go” books from the school library and saw that there are so many different types of vehicles, that all have different jobs to do:
We practised fine motor skills and pencil grip by completing transport themed jigsaw puzzles and pencil control worksheets:
And by threading wheel shaped pasta bracelets:
Maths was integrated too, by sorting vehicles into big, medium and small, and by counting and labelling train carriages with number stickers:
We read poem about traffic lights and decorated it by printing our own green, yellow and red circles. The children were reciting the poem saying “Yellow light, yellow light what does it mean? It means wait til the light is green!”:
Then had lots of fun playing red light, green light on the bicycles outside!:
We continued the role play and imaginative play indoors by taping down roads across the classroom floor, making our own driving licences, and using bus tickets to catch the bus and sing “The wheels on the bus”:
We explored mark making and patterns by painting with all the vehicles we had to see what different tyre tracks they made, then had a car wash to clean them afterwards!:
In cooking lab we made some yummy traffic light vegetable crackers:
And the preschoolers were fascinated to see a real life tanker arrive at school, which they had seen in the books!:
