December in Preschool Blue

The first topic we explored in December was all about ‘Shapes’. The children enjoyed playing with shapes, making shapes and looking for them both in class and outdoors.

They brought in a variety of shaped objects from home for our weekly ‘Show-and-tell’ and then matched their objects to the shape flashcards. We listened to the shape songs many times in class and the children were always enthusiastic to search for different shaped objects. They worked very hard in the ‘Indian Village’ moving logs to create shapes and draw shapes with big sticks.

Christmas –During ‘Cooking lab’ we used shapes to make a face with ‘rice crackers and vegetables’, then a ‘cracker and cheese snowman’ and lastly we made chocolate chip ‘Christmas cookies’; very yummy indeed!

The children were so happy to decorate the Christmas tree in the entrance of our beautiful building and we added lights which gave it that very ‘Christmassy’ feel!

We were super busy all month in class and in the ‘Atelier’ making crafts for both the Christmas market and to take home. We made cards, lollipop Christmas trees, Das decorations, toilet roll tube reindeers, pine cones and beautiful picture frames which were decorated with lots of pompoms. The children also painted a reindeer t-shirt which they wore for our Christmas Performance video.

On the last day of school the children opened their ‘Secret Santa’ gifts and were delighted with their new books! A special thanks to Emrys’ Dad for organising this, it was a great success!

I have to say that I was super happy with the children’s Christmas performance video; they did a great job and I’m very proud of them. A special thanks to you all for your continued support and collaboration and for the beautiful Christmas gifts.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year
