There’s only one Acorn House!

After two very long years, AHI finally took part in one of the many RISA football tournaments that are normally held throughout the academic year.  Years 5 and 6 had the privilege to represent AHI at the St George’s Winter Football Festival, which took place on December 4.  The students could not wait to take part.  For many, it was the first time they would represent their school.  For others, it was the first time they ever played football!  They were really honoured and proud.  The turnout was absolutely amazing.

Nine RISA schools took part and thoroughly enjoyed the event.  There were two tournaments:  one for the boys and one for the girls.  AHI was represented by two boys teams and two girls teams.  A special thank you should go to Mr. Steven, Mr. Samson and Mr. Nick who each took charge of one team whilst I (Mr. Alberto), took charge of the remaining team.

Regardless of the result, every team showed commitment and will.  They did not shy away when up against teams which were physically stronger and probably technically better.  They showed no fear and never gave up.  What else could one ask for?  I am sure that better results will come.

Congratulations to New School (Girls) and St George’s (Boys) who were the overall tournament winners and thank you to all (teachers, friends and family) who turned up and cheered on our great little athletes!  We hope (and want) to see our teams back in action very soon.

Mr. Alberto
