Preschool Yellow has been exploring its special colour… yellow!
We incorporated the colour into fine motor skill practice, by using our fingertips to thread yellow pasta necklaces and squeeze yellow water with the eyedroppers. We tried mixing in red too, to see how the yellow changed to orange as they mixed!
We decorated our classroom by making a collage using all the yellow things we could find in the craft supplies:
At circle time the children enjoyed feeling inside the mystery bag to find lots of different yellow objects. This was also great practice at taking turns, as each child waited patiently for their own turn:
During sensory play, we first felt dry corn flour and saw that it could be played with like sand. But when we added water we saw that the texture, feel and consistency changed.
To mark the end of summer we made some suns using yellow tissue paper, glue and paper plates. As we crafted we sang our favourite song: ♫Mr sun, sun, Mr golden sun, please shine down on me♫
And during our cooking session we made some tasty yellow omelettes, working our muscles to whisk the eggs together:
During Ms. Niki’s Atelier session we had lots of creative and sensory yellow thing to explore too!:
