Hooray!! We have made it to the end of year two! It’s hard to believe but all of our lovely year two children will soon be starting in year three in just a couple of short months. Let’s take a look at some of our highlights from year two…
We started to use our amazing new Chromebooks this year and even made our own Chromebook instruction E-Books using our digital citizenship skills.
We learned about what life was like 100 years ago and had a Topic day where we dressed up and pretended to be students from the previous century. We played old fashioned games like marbles and cat’s cradle, did woodwork, stitching and writing in cursive with an ink pen.
We considered the differences and similarities between us, talked about all the different languages that are spoken across the world, and then as a group, we said hello in more than 40 different languages.

In June we had Science week, where we did a science experiment every day for a week. On the final day of Science Week, we made a volcano and used vinegar, baking soda and food colouring to make it erupt!

We enjoyed plenty of outdoor learning opportunities this year when the weather was fine.
Towards the end of the year, we used the Chromebooks and talked about how to be a good digital citizen. We then made our own individual E-Books all about how to use a Chromebook aimed at younger children and beginners. Above you can see Teo’s beautiful E-Book cover and you can look through the full E-Books of all our year two students on our Seesaw Class Blog.
After studying Christopher Columbus we put our understanding of light and shadows to use by re-telling his story through shadow puppet shows.
