Spring in Reception Blue

We had so much fun in Reception Blue during these last months.

We started exploring our fantastic environment, and looked for signs of spring. We realised that acorns were actually seeds which are growing roots.

We found so many different types of creatures living under our logs and tried to make them happy, by understanding what exactly the soil is made of.

We found out it was made of soil, but also pebbles, acorns and dead leaves.

When exploring what grows and where, we found out some plants could grow only in water, like the avocado or small daisies, who did grow roots inside water.

In maths, we had fun measuring objects in our classroom using non standards units.

We developed our number sense

And we explored patterns.

We discovered the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and built a fantastic model to help us retell the story to each other.

Finally we spoke about our planet Earth, and in particular about the importance of recycling. We spoke about how simple everyday gestures could help keeping our Planet as healthy as possible.

We build the Earth in Papier Maché, then emptied our bin and created all sort of animals with recycled materials.

In a few words, we are doing wonders when we are together.

We are now very busy working at our new project about healthy food and can’t wait to share our experience with you in our next blog!
