We started our Spring project by exploring how to make the colour green; we read the wonderful story about ‘Little Blue & Little Yellow’ who were best friends and when they hugged each other, they became green! The children made green water, green paint and green playdough by mixing blue and yellow together. We planted some baby lettuce seeds which the children took home to care for.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar- the Preschoolers enjoyed representing the story by using laminated food props to feed the caterpillar all the while revising food names, colours, counting and number recognition. We made caterpillar necklaces by painting pasta green and adding red circles and made a healthy vegetable caterpillar snack with cucumber, tomato and carrots.
We spent a lot of time outdoors exploring, playing, observing and learning; we went on a Spring Nature hunt, picked flowers, dug in the vegetable patch and saw insects, bugs and creepy-crawlies!
Zoom & Seesaw- During the 2 weeks of remote learning we continued exploring the theme of Spring and made butterflies, spiders, ladybirds and bees. We also looked at some Nursery Rhymes, practised pencil control worksheets and cutting skills, revised Jolly Phonics letter sounds as well as numbers and shapes. Of course we had lots of fun too through movement songs and Show-and-tell. The children posted photos of their work on Seesaw as seen below.
A special thank you to all Families for your support and collaboration during remote learning and hope to see you all back at school next week! Happy Easter, Ms. Catriona
