Before the holidays Preschool Yellow learnt all about TRANSPORTATION! This includes cars, bikes, boats, planes, helicopters, buses and more.
We started off by getting messy and making muddy tyre tracks with brown paint and different vehicles. Each car or plane had different wheels and made a different print.
Followed by a car wash to get them nice and clean again!
We engaged in lots of role play, with small world cars and mat…
With ramps and tunnels…
And making our own bus! We all got on and sang “The Wheels on the Bus”.
Whereas outside we got on a plane to England as the preschoolers wanted to visit my family! Unfortunately the plane broke once it landed and needed to be fixed by mechanics before we took off again.
We also took the small world transportation toys outside and found some natural ramps and bridges.
And used traffic lights to say “Red, stop!”, “Yellow, wait!”, and “Green, go! while riding the bikes and cars and playing with the train tracks.
For literacy we read books about different types of transport, as as a traffic light poem that we decorated with red, yellow and green circles.
And practiced pencil grip and control with some transportation worksheets, guiding the vehicles along the paths.
We made paper plate cars and driving licences.
As well as paper boats. We put them in water to see if they would sink or float, and played a counting and number recognition game.
We also celebrated Valentine’s Day by making some special gifts for our loved ones. The children made heart decorations with their initials and heart shaped biscuits.
