Reception Yellow have had their hands full with lots of fun activities and games this month.
Literacy:
Using the sounds that have been introduced, children have begun to familiarise themselves with CVC words and blending.
They also built a CVC word snowman. Children sounded out the words, blended it, and then arranged it in the correct order.
Maths:
As well as working on number recognition and formation, children enjoyed following patterns through hands-on (literally) activities.
Children had to follow a pattern put in front of them and describe what would come next.
Talk for writing:
‘The Enormous Turnip’
Reception Yellow made an amazing display for the story. Children also made masks to go with ‘The Enormous Turnip‘ and retold the story wearing them.
After working so hard, children enjoyed a child-led activity in our Forest School area.
A bit of relaxation with Yoga:
Topic:
This month’s topic lessons are on Transportation. Children described their bicycles and then made boats, fire engines and hot air balloons.
Cooking lab:
Linking our cooking lesson to our current topic transportation, children made some delicious boats using:
- bread
- spreadable cheese
- ham
- sliced cheese
Trust us, they were tasty!
Reception Yellow’s days are filled with learning, creativity and nature. And of course, lots and lots of fun.
