For the past week in Preschool we have been looking at shapes and learning their names in English. The children really enjoyed hunting around for different shapes, and have been pointing them out to me in everything we do and play. First the shapes were introduced with flashcards and wall displays.
Then we went looking to see which ones we could find in the classroom.
And played a find the shape game, singing the song ♫”Triangle, triangle I can see a triangle”♫.
There were lots more examples of shapes to be found outside during a walk around the school grounds.
And back in the classroom the preschoolers enjoyed a shape hunt race!
We also had a go at getting creative and making our own shapes using playdoh, paint, paper and glue, buttons, wooden blocks, natural objects, and making heart shaped biscuits.
Parents can support their children in this topic at home simply by pointing out shapes that they see together in every day life! Our next topic in the lead up to Christmas is… RED
