Active Maths in Year 1

We‘ve been very busy bees in year 1  this last month. In maths, we started exploring the number 100 and how it could be made with groups of 10.

We also had of fun trying and reproducing 2D and 3D shapes using a range of tools and materials in order to be able to discuss their characteristics.

The cooking lab has also given us many math learning opportunities. We learned how to use a balance to understand the vocabulary of heavier and lighter.

We also baked some very special number bonds to 10 muffins mixing white and dark chocolate chips! You couldn’t see that once baked but, believe us, they were delicious!

We’re still working hard and preparing very special treats to sell at our Christmas Market. Can you guess what we’re making? If not, well, another 5 days and you’ll find out. See you on the 19th outside our classroom !
