Hello from the PE department!

The first part of this year’s Autumn term has been non stop.  Children have been working tirelessly pretty much in every lesson.  They have grasped very well every exercise / task that has been thrown at them and above all, have enjoyed every moment.  Their eagerness to learn and better themselves is evident and I am really proud of their progress.

Whilst our young learners have been working on their basic gross motor skills (balance, coordination, movement to name a few), our ‘not so young’ learners have been working on communication, team work and speed.  Giving them the responsibility to make decisions not only for themselves but for others around them, has been a priority.  Trying to become more independent and figure out tasks on their own has been a top priority in both KS2 and KS3.  Evidently there have been many challenging obstacles: children who have to rely on others to achieve a collective goal is something that we constantly address in our lessons.   Dealing with the various emotions when something is not achieved immediately or even defeat is a tough challenge.  All this is part of the process (part of growing up) and the signs of improvement are very encouraging.  Understanding and accepting is fundamental if one wants to improve technically and mentally.  Here are some of our ‘athletes’ working hard whilst in PE.  More to come soon.
