Middle School Trip to Malta

The Middle School had a great time on our trip to Malta. The students’ behaviour was excellent, and they were – to use the words of the receptionist at the hotel – wonderful ambassadors for the school and for Italy.

Here is a collection of pictures that capture some of the moments we shared together, in which time we learned about the history of Malta, visiting many fascinating sites: Neolithic structures that predate Stonehenge; the site of St Paul’s shipwrecking on the way to face trial in Rome; Valletta, Christian stronghold and home to the Order of St John as protectors of mainland Europe from the Ottoman Empire in the sixteenth century, resident there until the arrival of Napoleon in 1798; cathedrals containing work by Caravaggio completed after he had fled Rome with a papal bounty on his head; the Royal Naval batteries. The trip included a ferry crossing, an open-top bus ride, a 5D cinema experience and many other experiences.
