Year 4 February Blog

Lots has been happeniong in Year 4 since we came back in January!

We have been writing and learning about dinosaurs – come and see our informative texts on the stairs and in class!

We have started working on our Cambridge exams in listening and reading, and we are all doing very well!

We have been doing lots of fun things in science this term.

We looked at the states of matter and did experiments with melting and freezing. We had a race to see who could melt ice the quickest.

We also went to Explora to learn all about electrical circuits. We loved it! We learnt how to build a circuit and how important it is to make sure the circuit is complete and closed.

Then back in class we made lots of circuits. We added buzzers and switches and we looked at conductors, which would allow the electrical current to pass. We did some fun activities on Education City to build circuits too!

We also had carnival! We learnt about the origins of carnival and spoke about what we could try to give up for 40 days (but then we decided it would be too hard!).

We made traditional Brazilian carnival masks too.

Now we are getting ready for our residential trip to Grosseto. We are learning all about the Stone Age.

We have been looking at when was the Stone Age as well as the homes, the clothes, the food, weapons and tools and some of the animals. We have spoken about the fact that a good film to watch at home could be the Ice Age.
