Two months passed, new things learned. As always, the school curriculum goes on, and the more time that passes, the more we discover. The last few months, January and February, we’ve studied desertification and renewable energy. They might sound like boring, unnecessary topics, but after all they’re interesting and fun with Mr. Gale’s help. We studied how and why certain countries have been experiencing desertification, what to do to avoid it, and, above all, how we can fight it. Another topic we have discussed is renewable energy with its positive and negative sides, something that is important for our world.
Hopefully, in the near future, the use of this knowledge will help us build a better, cleaner society.
History…. The subject feared by every student. With all it’s dates and names and complicated facts… surely it could never be fun. But that’s where you’re wrong! Because thanks to the entertaining curriculum and the amazing company, learning about the industrial revolution, factory owner’s abuse of children and inventions like the spinning jenny it becomes a fun activity. We learned how machinery in factories evolved, why 10 year old children were employed to work and risk their lives in factories and how those factories worked. Looking for interesting facts and doing research in class made learning about the Industrial revolution awesome!
During these months we’ve been reading a fantastic and entertaining book called 1984, written by George Orwell. From chapter to chapter we have found out how many features a book can have. Apart from just reading the book we also did a lot of fun activities and games on this book. This is a lot of fun!
Through the last few months in science, we’ve been studying all types of drugs and their effects and side effects and smoking and how dangerous they are. We are now studying how acids and alkali work and how they can be neutralised.
