Hi everyone,
While writing our monthly (virtual) meeting and update I am drinking a nice and warm cup of coffee because the weather changed and I am freezing. However let’s see what our little friends have been exploring over the past month. The first topic the EY team decided to analyze was the story of “Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.” As a matter of fact this funny story gave the possibility to examine the world of opposites (big vs. small), some vocabulary (bear, bed, yellow hair, house, table, chair, bowl), sizes and matching games (small colored bears) and some colors as well (red, yellow, brown) thus anticipating the wonderful world of Nature and how it changes over different seasons: Autumn (“we see orange, we see brown, we see leaves on the ground, we see yellow, we see red we see leaves above our head!).
We also learnt that when it gets colder we wear different things: boots, rain suits, jumper, jackets (oh dear! All those clothes!!! gross motor skills must be improved).
However we found out that when Autumn arrives, leaves will fall from the trees and so many nice things can be done with them:
Sometimes you can use food and turn it into something different: oranges and apples can become paintbrushes and popcorns might become leaves.
The 20th of November was a very important day because the Rights of the Children Day was celebrated. Unfortunately we cannot post pictures of our children but I can assure you that everyday they enrich and make more colorful our school with their smiles and funny faces.
Every day can become special and a simple walk around school (middle school) can become a school trip through a little bit of fantasy
Our mess-makers had tons of fun exploring the world of shapes as well: star (our precious company during nap time with the song twinkle twinkle little star), square, circle, heart and triangle.
We also decided, with the kind help of Ms Roberta and Mr Samson, to organize a “Shape Hunt”
“And now start digging!”
However a great satisfaction is to notice that most children know and start respecting the rules: when they shout because somebody is running away and I told them to sit down on the steps; or Lukas who needs desperately to go to the bathroom but waits for my nod to leave pista.
Me, Ms Catriona and Ms Andra would like to say thank you to both parents and our colleagues because through their help and the resources they provided it was possible to realize wonderful things.
