Geography – where did they conquer?
The children looked at the world map and discussed countries they recognised.
We explored the areas that were conquered by the Ancient Romans.
The Gods
The children loved learning about the different Gods, their powers and why they were important to The Roman people.
The children made their own Roman God.
As a class we discussed different faiths and why they are important to many people.
Roman Buildings
Firstly, we thought about all of the famous Roman architecture.
We then discussed what changes have happened in terms of buildings from the Ancient Roman times until now.
The children compared and contrasted how we keep clean in ‘modern day’ compared to a visit to the bath house.
Making ‘Wine’
We discussed the most common food and drinks for the Roman people to enjoy.
The children enjoyed learning about some of the more ‘exotic’ food that the Romans would eat.
After our wine making, we learned what makes instructions helpful and effective. We wrote our own instructions after making the wine.
Our School Trip
The children learned about the Roman ruins and looked at some of the most famous Roman Landmarks. They even spotted some authentic Roman roads. Some of the children remembered that wealthy Roman people liked to eat their lunch lying down…so they did as the Romans did.
