Self-destructing Banksy picture

A famous painting, by the well-known artist Banksy, automatically disintegrated just a few seconds after being won at auction by a woman in London, two weeks ago. However, no one knows why Banksy built this auto-destructing frame.

Only a few seconds after the Girl With The Balloon was sold in London by Sotheby’s for  £1,042,000, the painting started to self-destruct. However, the woman that bought the painting still wanted to pay for it. She said, “At first I was shocked, but I realised I would end up with my own piece of art history.”

On that Friday just after the hammer fell, the alarm bells started ringing: the painting started to make a noise, and then it started to self-destruct, passing itself through a shredder.

It still remains unclear how the shredder turned on.

The unlucky buyer was not as unlucky in her own eyes; she took the painting home anyway because she thought it added value to the piece of art. It might even be worth more in the state it is in now.

This piece of art was then renamed to “Love Is In The Bin”.

Banksy is a popular, but unknown British street artist known for his stunts, and two weeks ago all of these people at Sotheby’s were “Banksyed”.
