Welcome to year 1

It has been a busy but brilliant start to year 1. Most teachers would agree that year 1 is the hardest transition for children, going from days of free play to a more structured learning environment. However, the children are coping very well with the change and are adapting to the new classroom routine well.

During the day, it is great to see children’s happy smiles and determined faces as they complete their English and math tasks.

I am especially proud of their enthusiastic participation in phonics lessons. The children have been busy completing phonics activities such as letter formation, sound sorting and CVC games. In math, they have been working hard on number formation, recognition, and number ordering. We cannot wait to see the rest of their progress throughout the school year!
