This year, in Year Nine we have a lot more responsibility! We all have to step up to the mark, especially our House Captains… we are the role models for Middle School!
So here it comes! Our final year at Acorn House has arrived. As sad as that is, we are going to make it count. So Let’s GO!
In English, we have been reading and studying a great piece of american literature, To kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. After doing a bit of background information on the injustice during the American Civil War, we started reading it and my, oh my, it sure is interesting! Especially the way things were back in the day.
In history, we are studying the great English Civil War! About old Charlie vs the demanding Parliament. Ole King Charlie pretty much made every mistake a king could make. He sent away parliament, he enforced illegal taxes and, worst of all, he angered the Scots! You never want to anger a Scotsman, it just never ends well (we know this because Mr Gale is Scottish). Well, we are on the brink of Civil war…you will have to wait and see what happens next!
In geography, we have been studying on how the world is shrinking. Yep…did you hear that right? The world is being invaded by globalisation which is the process by which we are becoming increasingly interconnected around the world. We looked at our t-shirts and discovered only one out of eleven were made in Italy! They were all made in places like Bangladesh, India, China, and one was even from the Dominican Republic! The world isn’t as big as it once seemed!
In science, we have been studying improvements in technology. Like the new improvements in medicine and the fact that technology has helped medicine so much it has saved so many lives and all thanks to the quaternary sector! We really have come a long way since the Stone Age!
In art, we have been studying Fauvism, which is a type of art before Picasso and Pollock. One of the main artists is Henri Matisse and he is very interesting.
Meanwhile in P.E we have been doing team building games, and it has been very helpful and really made us like each other more, at least I think.
