Year 7 discovered how the church operated in the middle ages. It was a shock to the class to find out how brainwashing the church truly was. Life was not good back then, and many did not have much to live for. In fact, all they had to live for was making sure they got into heaven. But, if they didn’t do what the church said….they would go to hell! The only educated people were the clergy, who told them (from the orders of the pope in Rome!) what to do and what to believe! The bible wasn’t even in English. No education helped the church to become a totalitarian like presence over people’s lives in the middle ages.
IN geography, Year 7 have been focussing on our Earth. IN fact, the very earth beneath our feet. In fact, what is actually happening under our feet! EARTHQUAKES! Thousands are happening all the time, but we just can’t feel them. WE took the journey with Alfred Wegener and discovered how the continents are actually moving. Millions of years ago the continents were all joined together – Pangea! This continental drift is still happening today! WE looked at where earthquakes occur and how they are also linked to volcanoes – The ring of Fire!!
