Year 9 have recently been discussing how different viewpoints can produce very different news reports, and learning that when we are exposed to the media, we should think about the possible bias that could be hidden in the way things are reported. To demonstrate this, the class was split into three groups, each reporting on the same story, from a different perspective. They reported on the trial of a black man accused of attacking a white woman in 1930s racist Alabama. The context was provided by the modern American classic To Kill A Mockingbird.
