In English, we have been studying The Hound of the Baskervilles from Conan Doyle. In this story there are many features like tension and anticipation. We read the book until chapter 6 and so far we really like it.
During the first ten days of October in geography, we finished our chapter about glaciers (landforms created by deposition) and started a new one about population on earth. Glacial landforms, such as U-shaped valleys, hanging valleys and misfit rivers are all over the world and are all due to glacial action. The world population is on the rise, but what does this mean?
In history, we finished the Scottish Wars of Independence with the Battle of Bannockburn. William Wallace was executed by being hanged, drawn and quartered. This included having his private parts ripped out and burnt in front of his eyes! Robert the Bruce led the Scots at the battle of Bannockburn and, finally, won Scotland’s independence…for a while, anyway. We have jumped ahead now and started the Hundred Years War between France and England during 1337 and 1453. There are many battles to come up – so we will keep you posted!

In science, we studied magnets and magnetism.We did two labs: one were we got some magnets and moved magnetic powder through a paper and another were we rubbed a balloon on our hair and attracted little objects like dust.
