This first month of school has been really exciting, even though it signalled the end of the holidays.
In English, we started to study detective fiction. We looked carefully at Dupin and at ratiocination, which is an intense form of reasoned thought.
In these last lessons, we have tried to solve a case using it!! Wait until next month to find out if we did!
In Science, we read about The Land Speed Record and the different type of forces. We learned that a cyclist uses push and pull forces to move the handlebars and make the pedals go round.
In History, having a scottish teacher, how could we not study William Wallace?!
Wallace started a scottish rebellion against Edward I and won a famous victory over the English army at the battle of Stirling Bridge.
In Geography, we started to study glaciers and their processes. We learned that the ice age is a time when earth’s temperature is lower than usual and glaciers form, carving up the landscape beneath. We also wrote a blog about us going back 20,000 years when the ice age was taking place. We are just learning what landforms are left once the glaciers melt, but you will have to wait until our next class blog!
In Art, we are studying the works of Andy Warhol. We have taken self portrait photos and will endeavour to transform them into the style of Andy Warhol!
We have had a great start to this year and we look forward to keeping you up to date with our learning!
