On March 27th, 2018, 52 Brazilian female sports journalists launched a campaign regarding their 
frustration at the lack of respect and dignity with which they are treated while working.
These women wanted to show their disappointment with men that don’t let them work. In fact their hashtag: “ DeixaElaTabalhar”(let her work) has been repeated many times. This movement could be related to the #MeToo one, because both go against harassment, sexual violence and a general atmosphere of disrespect towards women.
One of the journalists who suffered with regards to sexual violence is Bibiana Bolson, who related that one day during the European Football Cup, while she and some of her colleagues were turning their cameras on some men tried to kiss, hug and touch them. In the end, she underlined her disgust and sadness at such an unpleasant ordeal.
Bolson suffered a similar experience another time. After a football match in Brazil, a fan was very angry and disappointed about the fact that a woman was working there. He said to her:”You can’t talk about football, you can’t speak about sports because you are a woman.” In the end he even spat on Bolson.
Fortunately in Europe, there is a higher level of respect towards women. However, in Asia and in the Middle-East, women are repressed and they don’t have the most basic human rights.
This is something on which humans need to work on because often the female gender has a better view of things than men.
