Super September

It’s been a busy beginning in the Year 2 class!

After a day of getting to know each other better and  another enjoying the whole school team building day we got right down to work looking at our first piece of literature, Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile.

That crocodile thinks he’s SOOO clever, but we really don’t think his tricks are THAT great!                                                We practiced  our story telling skills by sequencing the story in groups, first with the pictures and then with an abridged version of the book.

Then, for Roald Dahl day, we got to dress up as our favourite character. Muggle Wump, Trunky, the Roly Poly Bird and the children were all there, but can you guess how many crocodiles we had in the class?

We’ve enjoyed the story so much that we’ve decided to make a special Year 2 edition! When you come by the class next week make sure to look out for it!

But story telling is not the only thing we’ve been up to!

We’ll be doing a lot of writing in Year 2 and the best way to prepare for that is to review those oh-so-tricky-words and some of our spelling patterns.

We’re also going to be learning all about the world that is ours, from oceans to space, and what better way to remember the names of the seven continents than by song?

And if all this wasn’t great enough already, next week we’re going on out first field trip!

Macchia Grande here we come!
