As part of our UdA (Unità Didattica di Apprendimento) Project, Year 9 discussed the way in which the internet and social media can be used for positive purposes. We discussed how it can have a damaging effect on people’s lives if used in an unkind or unthinking manner. We also talked about the importance of using the internet and social media in a constructive way, however, and all the good that comes with it. With that in mind, each member of the class was tasked with creating a Twitter post on one of the texts studied in the course of the Middle School. They practised their social media skills, and at the same time saw how the internet can be used to communicate, educate and engage in a positive manner. A tool is only as damaging or productive as the hands it is being held in.
