It’s very important for everyone to have clean and accessible energy for living. In 1990, about 1.51 billion people didn’t have access to electricity, but in 2016, nearly 560 million had electricity, but there were still 950m people with no access to electricity and that’s why the United Nations in 2015 made this goal in the project Agenda 2030 – to give to the world a sustainable future. Agenda 2030 is a project that should give everybody a sustainable future by 2030. There are many goals in this project and the 7th is to give clean and accessible energy to everyone. Six years have passed since the establishment of the project, and the world has moved forward with this goal. One example is that Indonesia has changed from a very rural country to a more modern one. Another example is India, it has still lots of people without access to electricity, but it’s improving fast! Obviously also since 1990 things have changed, with the end of the cold war, the Eastern European states (previously controlled by the communist Soviet Union) started to have more access to electricity. The same applies for China, Mongolia (Communist States), and South Korea. So, to sum it up, Goal 7 of Agenda 2030 is ongoing, but very slowly, andwith the problems of COVID-19 it has been even slower, but we have to work hard to achieve a future for all of us, together.
