In history, we studied loads of interesting things. One of those is The Battle of Bannockburn,which is one of the most important battles in the Scottish Wars of Independence. At the end of the battle the English army withdrew and the Scottish army won.
Another very exciting topic that we started to study is the Hundred Years War, between England and France, that ended with a French victory despite the English pulling off some amazing achievements – the Welsh longbow was really effective in these battles, in fact 30,000 arrows fell in a minute in the battle of Agincourt. No wonder the French lost!
In geography, we studied a lot of particular things, for example, waves and how they erode our coasts.
A lot of factors contribute to the formation of waves: the low air pressure with which the sea tends to go upwards a little, the high tides, the strong winds and the length of the fetch. We also learned different ways to protect places from the sea; those are seawalls, rock armours, artificial briefs, revetments, groynes and beach nourishment. We also started talking about glaciers and their characteristics. Did you know that most of the beauty seen in mountains comes from the ice age? Glaciers erode, transport and deposit material. This makes for some stunning scenery.
