In history, we have been studying the Scottish wars of Independence! Edward I has brought Wales under his control and his son is called the Prince of Wales! A custom that still exists today – the first male born child of the monarch is given the title of Prince of Wales. Edward (known as Longshanks) turns his attention to Scotland, to bring the entire island of Britain under his control. However, Andrew Murray and William Wallace were not taking that lightly.
In geography, we have been cruising the coasts! We have learned how our coasts are constantly changing and through change comes new landforms! Headlands, caves, arches and stacks! These amazing sights of our coasts have been through thousands of years of erosion, transport and deposition and it is still going on!
In English, we have been studying crime fiction. We read the The Murders in the Rue Morgue, which is the first piece of detective fiction written in English by an American author named Edgar Allan Poe. We studied key features such as eccentric detectives, logical reasoning, red herrings, incompetent police and violent crimes. The ending was something that took us all by surprise!
