THIS IS THE Year 7 CLASS BLOG. HERE WE WILL DESCRIBE OUR STUDIES DURING THIS MONTH.
HISTORY:
With Mr Gale we studied how William I, Duke of Normandy became king of England, even though he spoke another language, French. He was called William the Conqueror after he won the battle of Hastings in 1066. He managed to control the minds of the people by controlling the church and building Motte and Bailey Castles.
GEOGRAPHY:
With Mr Gale we studied the different settlements, and what can be found in the Central Business District of a city. A settlement is a place where everybody lives their lives, but did you know these have many different functions? The function is the reason why it was made in the first place.
SCIENCE:
With Ms Torres we studied the microscope and its components. Then animal and plant cells and looked at all of the pieces of a cell. We watched videos on cells and plants and we made experiments, but we’ve not done any tests.
GRAMMAR:
With Mr Clark we studied formal and informal language, then contractions and phrasal verbs to write a letter in English.
ENGLISH:
We wrote a Newspaper article for the Franklin’s Tale using formal language. Afterwards, we wrote a letter using informal language telling to a member our family that, during the day of Christmas Eve in the first World War, German and English soldiers stopped fighting and became friends.
P.E:
We followed Mr Canto’s instructions and played games like dogeball, always respecting the rules and helping each other.
ART:
We made lots of wonderful Christmas decorations for the Christmas market, working with shapes and special tools like copper and silver sheet. Mr Walker showed us how to do it lots of times because it was very difficult but it was also relaxing.
MUSIC:
Music is an English and Italian subject.
For the Christmas concert we prepared English songs to sing.
This month we learnt a lot, thank you teachers!
