The Romantics

Year 9 have been studying the Romantics, focusing on the lives and works of its most famous poets: William Blake, William Wordsworth, Samuel Coleridge, Lord Byron, Percy Shelley and John Keats. They studied one or two poems of each, identifying Romantic aspects and themes, such as love of nature, liberty, spiritualism, beauty, childish innocence, and love itself. They analysed the poems for use of form and poetical devices, including metre, rhyming schemes, and poetical devices such as alliteration, symbolism, personification and synecdoche. Below are some presentations, made by some of our students.
