March in Preschool!

March was a very busy month in Preschool!

We explored the topic of our bodies/our health through many fun and interesting activities and learning experiences. We looked at how we have grown from being a baby and the things we can now do which we couldn’t do before; comments from the children included ‘being taller’, ‘sleeping in their own beds’, ‘dressing themselves’, ‘helping at home’, ‘going to Preshool’ and ‘speaking English’. We looked at body parts and what we use these for, ways in which we are different, our senses, our feelings/emotions and things we like or dislike.                 Below the children are playing a game where they have to point to and name different parts of the body. For Show-and-tell they brought in a baby toy from home.

Green- In order to help children understand that the colour green can be made by mixing blue and yellow, we read the story of ‘Little blue and little yellow’. We then followed this up by mixing blue and yellow playdough, blue and yellow water and blue and yellow paint; the children were fascinated with the transformation.

Some ‘green’ things brought in from home for our weekly ‘Show-and tell’ activity.

Spring – in art lab and in class we made lots of things for our colourful Spring display including flowers, bees, butterflies and caterpillars. We also made tulips from Das and decorated them with beads.

Father’s Day – to celebrate this special day the children made a hanging decoration with their handprints which they decorated with shells, pom poms and buttons. We also read the big book about families which highlights the differences in families and how each family is unique yet special.

Fun and movement in music with Mr. Davide; the children love music lesson and here they are tapping out simple rhythmns with the wooden sticks and playing stop and go.

Easter egg hunt-The children were very excited to search for chocolate eggs in the garden. they searched in the play house and the sandpit, in and under the swing, the cars and the bushes and around the trees. The eggs were divided and sent home as an Easter treat!

See you soon!
