Catalonia is going to the polls on December 21st to vote for a new regional government, after the central government dissolved the previous regional leadership because of what they called an ‘illegal’ referendum vote. To better understand what the implications of this vote might be, we interviewed Alberto Canto, teacher of physical education at our school. Mr Canto was born in London of Spanish parents, and he has been closely following the developments of this crisis for a long time. He remains optimistic that a positive solution will soon be reached for both Spain and Catalonia.

We hope that whatever happens, there will be no more violence in Catalonia, and no more tears for the Spanish people looking on.
We also interviewed teacher Natalie Parry, who lived in Barcelona for many years and knows very well the spirit of independence that has led to the crisis. While waiting to discover the future of the region, we sought her point of view.
