During the last week of school the children in Early Years participated in some fun
scientific learning activities. We froze water in square containers and enjoyed touching
and tasting them. We then brought the ice blocks outside in large containers and played
with them, watching the transformation from solid to liquid.
Transformation from liquid to solid; we poured fruit juice in to moulds and then enjoyed the fresh ice-lollies for our afternoon snack.
We played a lot with water;
-adding different coloured paints to make coloured water;
-pouring/filling/emptying water with funnels and beakers;
-playing with toys of different sizes and weights where we saw that some floated while others sank.
During gym lesson with Mr. Alberto, the children experimented with gravity and motion by throwing and rolling
balls, bean bags and hula-hoops (in to the air and down the hill). Olivia was excited when playing with the car ramp,
watching the cars/train wagons and small ball in motion, rolling down each level very fast!
In class we experimented with big colourful magnets; the children were curious and fascinated
by how the magnets could move the small train wagons and how the paper clips all stuck on to it.
A very fun and interesting science week !
