The new invention for a safer future
Today we fly a lot, and the most nerve-wracking part of the flight is when you come in to land. However, knowing that you are in the hands of a high qualified, experienced human being is reassuring. It’s important that these air traffic controllers are calm and in control. AI can be used to make sure they are.
Since November 2015, researchers in Italy have been working on NINA, an AI technology that monitors the stress of air traffic controllers.
It does this by measuring their brain impulses, eye movements, skin temperature and other neurological responses.
So, after analysing the person it should also give some solutions to help the subject.
Having NINA is like having a friend who follows you and helps you, making your work easier.
Its sensors are now headphones; however, in the future they are going to be headbands or tiny instruments pinned to their collar.
NINA should be ready by the end of November this year.
