What’s been going on?

We have had a great start back to school! The students have been motivated, enthusiastic and excellent collaborators.

Out of all the new things we are learning in year 5, the students have responded most enthusiastically to The Sumerians in history and Michael Morpurgo in literacy. smaller-4

The students have written some excellent survival stories in the style of Michael Morpurgo. They are displayed in class – come in and have a look!

The stories have already been assessed using the marking ladder with peer and teacher assessment.

Each student made a great first attempt at Year 5 level writing and proved to be careful and conscientious assessors! Ms. Michaela will select some exceptional stories to be published on the school blog!

We have started our new literacy unit – instructional writing. We are connecting it to our project on survival and we are writing instructions for survival techniques.

This is how to make fire!

Besides all the learning, we have been having some fun too!

Aurora and Mr. Davide had birthdays and so we had cake in the classroom – thank you Aurora!aurora

Some of our Sumerian work will be posted soon! Watch this space!

Our grades will be inserted on REGEL over the next week, share your child’s success with them!

Don’t forget we have our trip coming up, where we will be spending the day ‘surviving’ in the ‘wild’!
