Dear Parents,
I am pleased to welcome you back for another year at Acorn House International. This year is going to be a busy one, full of exciting learning opportunities and wonderful new experiences for the children.
Building on the introduction of Regel last year, you will find a lot of information available online through the school website including the curriculum overview and class timetable for Year 4. Throughout the year we will be keeping a class blog through which the children will be able to share their learning with you.
Below you will find a few polite reminders for general housekeeping.
PE kit
A polite reminder- Children must be dressed ready for Gym according to the timetable or have a change of clothes with them for this lesson. This means that they should have a plain t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms or shorts and gym shoes. If they are not dressed appropriately, they will not be able to participate for safety reasons.
Homework
Children will receive homework every week for English (reading activities, spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Maths (written activities, revision and times table practice) which may be in preparation for, or a follow up from, a lesson and so it is vital that it is completed and in school on time. They may also receive additional homework for History, Geography and Science from time to time.
It is also essential that the children spend a minimum of 15 minutes every day reading. This helps to reinforce and develop several areas of learning as well as building their self confidence and motivation in class
Communication with parents
Effective communication between parents and teachers is an important part of your child’s education. I will be happy to discuss any problems or queries you may have. However, please note that once the children come into class in the morning, lessons have started. If you have anything to share, please send a note in with your child, leave a message in the office or make an appointment for after school.
